Route 14 - Carlsbad to W Lilac

This ride uses Palomar Airport Road to head East, circles around San Marcos, and heads up the Old Castle climb. Returning on Old 395 is the one of the fastest descents in North County. Push it to the max, but watch the bumps on the bridge overpassing I-15. This is another ride included in the free packet with a Velcro handlebar clip.

Starting near the Poinsettia Train Station on Avenida Encinas in Southern Carlsbad, ride North Past Carlsbad State Beach, into Oceanside. In Oceanside enter the San Luis Rey River bike path and ride East. Leave the bike path at College Boulevard and head South to Mssion Ave. Mission Ave east to North Santa Fe Ave. Pass Guajome Regional Park as you ride East and South into Vista. Riding East on Mission Road, until you reach Rancho Santa Fe Road, on the western edge of San Marcos. Then you ride South through Lake San Marcos to the southern end of Melrose Drive. Alga Road takes you through La Costa Country Club, and then Aviar until you get to Poinsettia Lane. You ride Poinsettia West until you reach Avenida Encinas again, and return back to the start.
